About

4D Lab.berlin is an engineering studio dedicated to helping you bring your product ideas to life — from first prototypes to small-scale production.

We specialize in building systems and methods for decentralized production — empowering local, resilient manufacturing networks instead of relying on centralized mass production.

Services

  • Prototyping & Rapid Iteration

  • Product & System Design

  • Small Series Production

  • Decentralized Manufacturing Methods

  • Tool & Process Development

Services

We help turn ideas into working prototypes — combining fabrication, electronics, and system thinking to move from concept to something real, testable, and ready to evolve.

  • 3D Printing

For fast iteration, functional parts, form studies, and early validation. A practical way to test ideas quickly in the real world.

  • Wood Milling

For enclosures, structural parts, mockups, fixtures, and larger prototype components. Useful when prototypes need physical presence, scale, or robustness.

  • Electronics

For interactive and intelligent prototypes involving sensors, microcontrollers, embedded systems, and basic hardware integration.

Beyond individual parts, we help shape prototypes as systems — thinking through how elements fit together, how they can be tested, and how they might later move toward small-scale or decentralized production.

Our Approach

At 4D Lab.berlin, we believe the future of manufacturing isn't bigger — it's more distributed, more local, and more resilient.

Decentralized production means moving away from centralized factories and long supply chains, and instead enabling tools, methods, and systems that allow products to be made closer to where they're needed.

Whether it's a small production run in a city lab or a network of microfactories collaborating across regions, our goal is to help businesses and communities take ownership of how things are made.

We design for flexibility, repairability, and empowerment — because we believe that how we make things shapes the kind of world we live in.
